Submissions

Our club has a keen interest in the local environment and wants to help ensure that our local native flora and fauna is protected from threats to its long-term survival.  From time-to-time there are opportunities for the club to comment and make submissions to all levels of government on issues as part of enquiries and community consultation procedures.  You can see our most recent letters and submissions below.

April 2025

Letter to Mt Alexander Shire Council asking for improved stormwater management on streets and construction sites to complement restoration works taking place in Forest and Campbell Creeks.

March 2025

The club made a submission to Mt Alexander Shire Council on their Draft Nature Strip Guidelines which we feel are too restrictive and do not support nature.

The club wrote to Forest fire Management Victoria about the planned burns south of Castlemaine and our concerns about the impact on threatened species and the implications for the spread of Phytophthora near Wewak Track

December 2024

The club made an online submission through Engage Victoria on the redevelopment of the Castlemaine Water Treatment facility where we supported the continuation of environmental water flows.

May 2023

Submission to the Victorian Parliament Inquiry into Victoria’s Recreational Native Bird Hunting Arrangements.

April 2023

Submission to Mt Alexander Shire Council on the Council’s 2023-24 Draft Budget asking for more funding for weed control.
