Great Southern Bioblitz 2024 – Moth Night

Castlemaine Botanic Gardens, Friday 20th September from 7:00pm

There is a great variety of moths and other insects that are active at night. Many of these are beautiful. Some have subtle markings that enable them to blend into their background. Even the plainest of our moths deserve a second look. You can see some of the sightings that we made during GSB 2023 here

Come and join the fun!

We will set up special lights and moth sheets here at the southern (Walker St) end of the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens. Enter via the entrance closest to the bridge over Barkers Ck (opposite The Mill).

This is part of GSB 2024 so bring your camera and phone so that you can record what you see. Load your observations to the iNaturalist website where they will count towards our effort for the Great Southern Bioblitz. We will have a moth expert present who can explain what we are seeing.
