It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Life Member George Broadway on January 2nd, in St John of God Hospital, Bendigo.
George was a founding member of the Castlemaine FNC in 1976, and has been a pillar of the club since then – a superb field naturalist whose deep local knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural environment inspired members over the decades.
He was the founding Vice-President in 1976, and held all the office-bearer roles over the years, including four stints as President and as Secretary from 2000-2016. He has been serving as a general member of the committee where we have greatly appreciated his wisdom and guidance.
We will miss George in so many ways – his generous advice, his warm friendship, and all the many and varied contributions he made to the club.
