Excursion: Saturday 14th November 2026, 1.30pm

Leaders: Euan Moore and Mez Woodward, “Bioblitz preparation, use of iNaturalist in the field, Walmer Forest Reserve"

Enjoy the late spring wildflowers, butterflies, beetles and bugs while gaining experience in photographing for the Great Southern Bioblitz (27-30 November). Learn from other field naturalists how to photograph key characteristics of fauna and flora to maximise the likelihood of getting your observations identified from photos submitted to iNaturalist.

Whether you prefer to use a smart phone, a point and shoot digital camera or a digital SLR camera with interchangeable lenses, we will endeavour to provide you with guidelines and tips to achieve these results.  It will be helpful for you to download the iNaturalist app onto your phone before the day.

We will conclude with our picnic afternoon tea as we share further insight into making valuable iNaturalist observations.

Meet: for car-pooling and 1.30pm departure at the northern end of the car park, north of the Railway Goods Shed, Kennedy St. Castlemaine.
Or meet at 1.45pm at the car park at the southern end of Daltons Rd (Google Maps https://maps.app.goo.gl/GJqK8XxKfjsvKk9K8).
